London Mini Games need to sack the PR company

London Mini Games sounds like a first rate idea. An Olympic type competition amongst London's children to encourage and publicise sport in the capital. Not to mention promoting both the immediate participation of our finest in China and the not so immediate but hugely important 2012 games in our own fair city. But who knows anything about it? Maybe my own nearest boroughs Islington and City of London just didn't get it.

Or maybe the organising body was short of a promotional budget. We featured it on LondonKidz and link to the official web site but that's where the trail goes cold. The site then tells you to link to local government sites and the nearest I got to London Youth Games activities on Islington and CoL websites were stories about the tragic knife murder of a teenager and what the Youth Offending Team is up to in COL. Although why they have a team to go around offending Youths is beyond me although can see it being popular with the residents at the Barbican.

Anyway it just seems to me that we are strong on great ideas in London and poor on execution. My eldest millstone did take part in the "mini swimming" he is 10 and his school got a fax asking him to report to get on a coach three days later at 0730 in the morning. He broke down under interrogation the evening after the event and said he'd been somewhere in Kent and had really enjoyed it.

My school said they knew nothing about this. How can that be? It has not been thought through. Is so typical. Councils have eventually conquered giving out parking tickets maybe doing something for our children will be soon.

I don't think my school even KNEW about it! Is it only public schools, or private as well?
